Dinner Extreme by taylor - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I could eat dinner with any president it would be Donald Trump. His controversial campaign created massive attention, intense criticism, silent support, and ultimately resulted in the greatest upset victory of all time. Donald Trump’s march to the presidency came on the heels of a dissatisfied American public fed up with the current socioeconomic position, threats of terrorism, loose to non-existent immigration enforcement, and rising health care concerns. I think dinner with him would be both fascinating and enlightening.
While not everyone agrees with President Trumps way of expressing himself as he has a tendency to be quite radical and somewhat shocking, he does successfully garner the attention he appears to be after. His extreme personality aside, I would still like to hear his philosophy on tax reform, heath care, immigration, increasing American’s job pool and reducing the US debt. We’ve all heard the two sentence quips on how to fix these issues, but what is really being done? What’s the real meat and potatoes behind the “Let’s make America Great Again” slogan? Is there real substance there and is achieving it feasible? Because I for one, would like to make America great again.
Whether you like Donald Trump or not he is an intelligent businessman and a proven leader. He has seen and lived defeat, but he does not let loss own or consume him. If he falls, he simply gets back up and lives to fight another day. I would like to know how he thinks and what drives him to success. And does he truly believe his philosophy can drive America to even greater success? Dinner with him would prove to be a lively and fascinating event and I would jump at the chance to eat with and converse with him.
