National Honors Society by Taylor - March 2014 Scholarship Essay
My greatest academic achievement was being selected to be a part of the National Honors Society. At first when I received my letter that I was nominated to apply for this position, I was unsure if I was going to get in because of my fellow classmates that I was going to be running up against. However, I applied anyway. When I got my acceptance letter, I was definitely shocked. I had one question for my National Honors Society leader, “What made me qualify to be a part of the National Honors Society?” and his answer was “You’re leadership in and out of the classroom, the extra-curricular activities you participate in, and your service in the community.” Knowing this, it has helped me to push myself harder in the classroom, on the court, in my clubs, and also to better serve my community.
By being in the National Honors Society, I have been introduced to tutoring, which I have now racked up 12 hours this year. I am glad that I can contribute to the kids in my school. It is empowering for me to be a part of the National Honors Society and that is why I feel like it is my greatest academic achievements.
