My dream by Tatyana - June 2013 Scholarship Essay
My personal academic interests are to study business and marketing. Although my ideas of study might change, I've been set on becoming a sports agent since my freshman year of high school. Not only am I interested in sports, but I also feel the area of negotiating contracts and dealing with the financial part of a professional player's career is a career area I would be best in. Out of every other major there is to choose from, based on my career goals, business and marketing, and also a minor in sports management, would be the best subjects for me to study so I can obtain all the education I need to be a successful sports agent. While enrolled in classes that are based upon my intended areas of study I hope to acquire communication skills. These skills are ones that I will need to be able to communicate the value of my athletes to sports teams, corporations and charities. Being a part of the UCF community will also give me the opportunity to participate in an internship in a business, sports management or selling agency which will provide me with the chance to obtain the ability of persuasive speaking that will greatly benefit me and help me become a great sports agent.
Earning scholarships will better my chances of achieving my career goals as well. With my mother being a single parent of three daughters, financial need and assistance is inevitable. Affording the tuition at a four year university is not easy but it is something I will strive for to achieve my dreams of attending and graduating from the University of Central Florida. My father is a former UCF alumni and I too want to become a UCF alumni as well as create my own legacy of being the first, of my generation, in my family to attend a four year university. The one thing that inspires me and intrigues me the most is to exceed others expectations of myself and prove everyone wrong that every doubted me. Going to college and making my dreams a reality will be the first step of me doing so.
