My Most Influential Book by Tasha - May 2017 Scholarship Essay

In middle School, one of the assignments was to read the play version of "The Diary of Anne Frank." Anne Frank is a real person who suffered during World War II and her diary lead historians to learn about life in hiding. Anne and her family lived in an secret annex with another family which got raided by Nazis. The secret annex was raided because someone reported unknown sounds to the Nazis, who then took everyone in the annex to concentration camps. The only surviving person after the holocaust was Anne's father who edited the diary, taking out piece that were too inappropriate for the time.
This is my most influential book because my life seems so much easier than it was in the past and everyone takes that for granted. Just because life is okay for you, does not mean life is that way for everyone. Another reason this changed my life is because it showed the confusion life can throw at you and the horror that can unexpectedly come with. Life is very precious and Anne Frank lived her life to the fullest. Even though times got tough she managed to find a way through. This inspires me to stay optimistic and when times get tough I will not to give up hope for a better future.
