awarding the noble prize by Taran - December 2018 Scholarship Essay

My name is Taran Lee Broomfield, and today I will be awarding this person the noble peace prize. The person who will be receiving this prize has shown me just how much they've worked to achieve such heights. As some may know, the noble peace prize is only rewarded to those who've shown excellent work in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, economics, and the promotion of peace. Even with all these qualities combined, this person I’m awarding this prize percusses two qualities that are very important. The qualities that I'm speaking of are honesty and loyalty.

Honesty is one of the many personal qualities that I'm looking for as a recipient of this year’s prize. I hope that I’m not the only one that believes that if a person is honest they are being true to others as well as them self. If one is not honest, for example; if being honest would mean giving any person truthful advice or neutral opinion no matter how hurtful it maybe. When people acknowledge that you're honest they want to be around you and at times I’m sure they may come to you for the best advice.

Loyalty is another one of the two personal qualities that I'm looking for. This being, because having a sense of loyalty means that the person will always have someone's back even in the direst of situations. I personally believe that being loyal is the most honorable trait to hold. Not everyone hold this trait and quality. When people acknowledge that you're loyal, they'll start to trust you. And there is nothing better than having a longtime friend or roommate you can honestly trust.

Now some people may think that honesty and loyalty are two of the same things. "If the person is honest then they're already showing loyalty" or "if the person is being loyal then the loyal person would have to be honest". These statements can be logical but others may see them as incorrect. I say you can be loyal without being honest; or honest without being loyal. Either way, to hold such great and personal qualities such as being Honest and Loyal. My recipient of this year’s Noble Peace Prize not only holds all and who have shown excellent work in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, economics, and the promotion of peace as well.

In conclusion, I choose that my recipient would adhere to their excellent works in the field and studies as well as adhering to both personal qualities of honestly and loyalty.
With that being said, I close with the definition of both personal qualities based on Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus.

Honesty: Fairness and straightforwardness of conduct. Adherence to the facts. Pg.515
Loyalty: Faithful in allegiances to one’s government. Faithful to a cause or ideal. Pg.633
