College Experience by Tanya - November 2016 Scholarship Essay
College is an unforgettable experience. There are multiple activities students can do while in college. College is different than high school, one can obtain the sense of true freedom while pursing the classes that are a necessity for one's profession. On my situation I will be grateful to play soccer and run track while in college. I will be able to play at the next level, having that life long bond with my teammates, and the opportunity to continue the passion I have had since childhood.
Statistics say that only one to four percent of athletes in high school get signed to play at the college level. I will be in that category which means I will be participating in collegiate sports. On the soccer side the style of play is more aggressive with the body and a much faster pace than compared to high school. No matter what division it is they all have a similarity by the athlete being more intelligent. The practices are going to be more demanding with vigorous weight room and soccer drills within the hour of five in the morning to six and for afternoon practices at four to six. In track, it will be faster and stronger girls in every event I will be competing in. College track are girls who have worked their butts off for a scholarship that they earned by taking part in high school track. In both sports I have to prove to my coaches that I will participate in collegiate sports and thrive in them. Basically college is a whole new level itself.
Friends in college are friends until the end. Well in sports you will build bonds with your teammates because you need to trust them during a game or meet. It is all about the loyalty and faith teammates have for one another. This is what I want in an institution that offers sports teams. In high school sports some of my peers do not understand the concept of the game or the event. Sometimes it is vice versa when a student has potential in the sport but does not have the desire for it. In college it is different I will be surrounded by athletes who are both good and have the passion for the sport they are competing in. For a teammate to have the same enthusiasm and participate in the same sport is a bond that will never be broken.
The greatest thing about college is it can take you to your dream profession if you are determined enough to go after it. The best part is to have sports the reason why you choose that college. I have had a passion for soccer since I was five years old and track was when I was about thirteen years old. They both complete my life in every way possible. Both sports make me forget what is wrong with my life and I just focus on which every sport is in the front of me. Being able to continue my career in track and soccer towards college is a true blessing.
No matter what college will be thrilling and be a privilege to experience. Being able to participate in collegiate sport, having a family bond with my teammates, and also having my desire for sports continue with me through my institution is just breath taking. Sports will be what I am most thankful when I graduate college.
