Georgia Farm Boy to President of the United States by Tammie - February 2016 Scholarship Essay
If I could have dinner with historical figure it would be Jimmy Carter. For some this may seem to be an odd question. For me it is more based on where I am from. I think it would be an interesting dinner to go to. He has seen so many things in his childhood and his career. If you think he was a farmer from Georgia. Then he went into politics to become President of the United States.
I know from my childhood that being raised on a farm in Georgia you do not always get to see the world. I would ask what made him decide he was going to do more than farm. Was it the struggle of his family or was it seeing what the family down the road had? Some of us that grew up in the farmlands of Georgia well we never seen more beyond our small backwoods homes. So for me that is a real interesting question.
Then the next question would be reflection I suppose. I would ask if he ever missed his slow farm life once he stepped into the role as president. Just to imagine leaving your roots behind to create more with so many veins leading off from the roots in a dirt field in Georgia.
Finally, the question that I would be the most interested in. Was you afraid when you come to the conclusion you would be leaving home to run the United States.
