Building Bridges by Tamara - July 2018 Scholarship Essay

This is a time of charged emotions and passionate political beliefs. I believe we need to focus our energies together and on the betterment of America and California. There are plenty of subjects that we can all agree on as a human race. Keeping this as the forefront goal, we can build a culture of tolerance, kindness and understanding on campus.

Acheiving this goal will require tolerance of all views, including conservatives. We have forgotten that the "persuit of Freedom and Happiness" is defined differently by everyone. Creating a shift of tolerance through positive affirmations (Stated by posting on Campus) and requiring service work would be a start in the right direction.

Beginning with community awareness and service, we learn tolerance and acceptance. Our views broaden as we open our hearts. The number one way I would positively impact Fresno City College as student body president would by being a bright beacon of acceptance and tolerance during theses coatic times.I would organize community service projects that would include high need areas of Fresno and make it easy for students to participate. To shine a light on humanity and light a spark in my fellow students. Hopefully, the flame will grow and spread.

Thank you for your consideration.
