Every Voice Heard by Tahaa - December 2025 Scholarship Essay

If I were to run for the position of the student body president, one thing I would do differently in our school is to make everyone feel welcome. That place should be a place where everyone is supposed to care for and support each other, and it's supposed to be a place that people look ahead to going. The best way to do this would be through helping people interact with each other and also ensuring their voices are heard.

I would give students opportunities to add their discussion with their inputs. Many times it has happened that certain decisions are arrived at which apparently are not required by the students. I would set easy means for giving feedback like suggestion boxes so that every one gets a chance of giving his/her opinion.

I would also ensure the organization of fun events that bring people together. Events like spirit weeks, game nights, and service projects are ideal and are an excellent way of getting to know new friends while expressing pride in the school. This is because such events make learning more enjoyable while teaching us how to work together.

The other big part is making sure the students are supported when life at school gets overwhelming. Middle school can be tough; I would like to implement things such as peer mentoring, where older students mentor the younger ones, or small wellness activities to offer that much-needed respite.

Ultimately, what I would aim to do as student body president is make our school a place where all people feel they belong. When that happens, we all succeed, and that's a kind of success not limited to the classroom but spilling into life. That is what I feel is a positive change that should occur.
