A Better Life by Tae'Lee - May 2019 Scholarship Essay

The city of Seminole is an old, little town down in Southern Oklahoma. It may not be vast in population but I would deem it worthy of having great potential within its community if given the proper tools and opportunities. If I was personally presented with a ten-thousand dollar grant to impact Seminole, I would use it to improve the lives of the people and animals living here. A few examples being the depletion of waste and litter that occupys the streets, the organization and planning of building safer park area's for children, and caring more about the well-being of pets and strays that are in our community.
Everyday that I am passing through the town I can see more and more garbage laying on the grass, in the parking lot of stores, and within the parks and ballfeilds as I go by. It truly is a discouraging sight when the community is littered in filth and no one makes a change to fix it. If given the chance my first step would be to gradually assemble a group of volunteer's in an attempt to radically clean up our home. Another step that I would take would be to start recycling the items that we can reuse, rather than simply tossing them out. If the people were to see the commitment and the effect it had on other's then they might just possibly follw in their footsteps.
