An Academic Goal by Symone - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

An academic goal for my upcoming year of college is to expand my knowledge. I want to learn more about my major, which is Psychology. I think it is important for me to gain more information on the fundamentals of psychology, so I can understand the mind better. I want to know why we do the things we do and why do we think the way we do. If I am able to this I can understand my own mind. This could help me in the present and the upcoming future. I can also help those around me like my family, friends, and community. I want to make a change and help other. If I can do that, then I can do anything.

Speaking of the topic of psychology, this also leads to mental health. Mental help is important for everyone. Mental health can effect a person in many ways. It can effect a person’s interactions with others, a person’s energy, and how they complete their day to day tasks. It is not spoken about, especially in the black community. I think it should be spoken out. Not knowing or speaking about it can detrimental. It should be a priority for everyone and everyone deserves that priority.
