Money Matters by Symone - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

Do you ever think about how much you actually use what you learn, or learned in school? Not everything you learn in school you will use. In fact a majority of the things you learn in school you never use or even remember. However, we tend be more interested in learning what we know we will need.
I took one class in high school that changed my life. If I could choose any subject to teach it would be money matters. It is one of the few classes that I think could change the lives of many students. I know it sure changed mine.
Money matters is an elective that teaches students about how to handle money they will make in the future. The class teaches them how to write checks, save up for retirement, stocks and bonds, emergency funds, how to stay out of debt, and much more. I would love to teach a class like this because I love helping others. Ever since I was little I knew I wanted to change the lives of others. I feel so accomplished when I know I have helped someone. Teaching such a useful subject such as money matters would help so many students because it is something I am pationate about. I know it can help lives because I have seen it happen. I now have a better understanding of how money works in the world, and the things you have to do in life to be successful with money. I believe it is a very important class that every student should take. I would be honored to be able to teach this subject.
