A Passion for Education by Sydnie - July 2019 Scholarship Essay

To have a passion for something is to give whatever you do your everything. Passion is one of the most amazing things you can possess. Education is something I am very passionate about. It’s such a beautiful thing that connects all of us. However, many people take it for granted. Education wasn’t always as accessible as it is now. It’s important that people keep the old ways of the past in mind and appreciate every progression we’ve made as a country.
Many people express their love for education in different ways. Some people teach, some people learn, and some people share their passion. For me, I love to learn new things. Whether it be Math, English, History, or Science, learning something new is an amazing experience. The more knowledge I obtain, the more I feel my character grows. You can learn a lot from things you deem unnecessary in school. For example, science in school taught me the circle of life; but, it also taught me how precious life itself is. It also showed me how complex life is. There are so many different plants, substances, chemicals, and systems in our world. There is so much out there to explore, which makes our problems seem so little. It gave me a worldly perspective on my life. I could name so many other life lessons I’ve learned from education, but this essay would definitely exceed 500 words.
So, back to having a passion for education. Once I realized the life lessons I could learn from school, I started becoming really involved in my studies. This was because I wanted to learn as much as I could so life could possibly be a little easier in the future. This realization led to my passion for education. I wanted to learn everything; I didn’t care about homework or classwork. Instead of just memorizing information for the sake of getting a good grade, I started actually absorbing what I was learning. This made school a lot easier and a lot more fun. Now, school isn't boring or aggravating. Now, I don't dread big projects or tests. I embrace them because I finally understand the big picture. I was finally able to understand what I could really receive from school.
My passion for education has truly turned my life around. It changed my view on school and education completely, and I am so grateful for the realization I had so early on in life. Without this passion, I wouldn’t be able to understand how important the school system is. I hope that others can have their own epitomes and take in as much as they can from school while they can. It would be a shame to let the wonder that is education be taken for granted.
