President dinner by Sydnie - October 2017 Scholarship Essay
The one U.S. President I would like to have dinner with would be, George Washington. Not only did he set the standard for how president should be and act, but he set this standard for over 50 presidents after him. Mr. Washington, I feel, would be a great dinner date and could answer many modern questions that generations have been wanting to know. "If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter" - George Washington. I would ask him how he feel about our many previous presidents and his opinion on the current political and humanity situations going on around us. I would like to know how he feels about violence and coexisting, not only that but also what he was thinking during the war in 1787. I feel as though Mr. Washington could give very good advice to me and our country today. "To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means to preserve peace." When you think of his words and what the country is going through today, it mostly hits the bullseye. The best way to keep peace is by feeling safe, and Washington made sure to try and keep that peace. I would love to know his input on this in today's age, and how Washington would impact the modern day.
