Education in 50 Years by Sydney - May 2020 Scholarship Essay
In 50 years, education will be more technology-dependent as technology continues to advance. Although technology can be a blessing because it enables us to do more and be productive, it can also be a curse. Technology with education is helpful because it allows us to do things that would be difficult to do without help, such as research for research papers. Through technology and platforms like Microsoft Teams and Google, we are able to work with others on documents, even if we are not able to physically be with each other. During this coronavirus pandemic, technology has helped us to continue our education and stay connected. I believe future education will become more dependent on technology use to help make our education system more productive as well as encouraging students to be innovative and use technology to their benefit.
However if misused, technology can be very harmful to our education. For example, too much dependence on technology can cause people to be less motivated to work hard and put in effort into things. Technology can enable cheating, easy ways to find answers, and can encourage people to not depend on themselves and their own knowledge, rather just use technology to do things for them. I envision that in 50 years, our education system will be more dependent on technology and there will be less need to do things with thingts related to traditional education now, such as notebooks, paper, pens, and pencils. I believe that he technology will advance to the point where our society will become dependent on its use for being productive and improving our education system.
