A Meal with President Obama by Sydney - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

If could have dinner with any president, I would choose Barack Obama for a few different reasons. Compared to other presidents in the past, Barack Obama was a president who really cared about the people of the United States and having a real connection with us. He is extremely funny and he is relatable, even though he was president of the United States of America.

I admire his relationships with his wife Michelle and his daughters, Malia and Sasha. He is such a great father and role model for his daughters as well. They also have kind hearts and positive attitudes. The Obamas overall, are great people with no negative baggage or personalities.

In addition, President Barack Obama was very vocal about world problems and plans of action to take in order to fix those problems. His confidence and the way he projects his voice make you want to just tune everything out and only focus on what he has to say. In particular, I also admire Barack Obama's interview with Misty Copeland where they discuss how race and taking on big responsibilities have affected them. Misty talks about being an african american principal dancer at The American Ballet Theatre while Barack is the first african american president. Both of them have expectations to live up to that are challenging but they both make sure to stay humble no matter what.

In conclusion, I would want to have dinner with Barack Obama because I feel like he could give me good advice and be happy to answer any question that I may have. I would let him know how much I appreciate his views. I also feel like he would be really entertaining!
