The Transfer by Suzann - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

When most people enter a university, they take a deep breath and gaze around the campus thinking, "Wow this is where I am going to spend the next four years." However, when I stepped onto the tar-clad parking lot of UTA all I could think was "let me make this one year count."
In the past year, I made the decision to participate in the University of Texas Cap program. The CAP program allows a student in a qualifying sister school to transfer into their liberal arts school as long as they maintain their GPA above 3.2 and complete 30 credits by May. I originally signed up with no hesitation but now I realize that maintaining an 82 average and above may be much harder than it was back in high school. I decided to take pretty hard classes including MicroEconomics and Calculus because I did not want to be set back a year just for getting in but both classes are a bit difficult to pass with an A, which is necessary for me to properly pass my schooling this year. This fear is currently brewing inside me as I feel anxiety about my grades starting to fester.
This is when I took a step back, let's leave the anxiety to the side, what I want more than anything is to make parents proud and transfer to UT so I will make sure to get a straight A in almost every class but now the question is how. The answer is I will work diligently and harder than I have ever before, I will not procrastinate on assignments, use professors' workshops. and watch youtube videos in order to better myself in the subjects I will take. I will try to like the subjects I take rather than just approaching them as a simple class and I will detail my schedule every day so that I can properly succeed in getting straight A's. And if my plan becomes a reality I hope I will one day be able to say that I am a Longhorn.
