Back in YOUR Day by Summer - August 2018 Scholarship Essay

The podcast "Back in YOUR Day" was created in the hopes that parents would grasp the modern education system. Changing the story openings from 'Back in my day..." to one that shows understanding of the new generation is something that grew important to me when I was younger. When I was in middle and high school, I vividly remember my mom and dad giving long lecture stories about how things have changed since they were in school. These were interesting stories, however they did not convey the fact that both of my parents did not understand how to manipulate the modern school system to help me be successful. Now that I am forty-two years old I thought a podcast about the current education system would help us raise our children. My podcast aims to educate busy, working parents on the public school system so we can better prepare for standardized tests, dress codes, scholarship applications and any other education action that your teen might not tell you about. On Scholar Sunday we will give you tools on the best way parents can help their children when it comes to scholarships and choosing a college or University. Application deadlines and scholarship essay resources will be explained to give your child the best shot. On Tutor-Tuesday, we will discuss what to look for in a good tutor for your child in mathematics, sciences, English and literature and humanities classes. We will also open dialogue on how to confront your child about getting additional help in these subjects. Don't skip out on Thursday's Think Tank, where you, the listeners, get to chime in on some commonly asked questions about the education system. "How should my child prepare for standardized tests? What are the best electives my student should take for their career? Is there anything I can do as a parent to help my child stay stress free in the start of the school year?" are all questions we will crack down on. We hope to open communication between the busy teens and working parents to create a free-flowing education system with scholarly literacy.
