Historical Figure Essay by Steven - February 2016 Scholarship Essay

If I could have dinner with any historical figure, it would have to be Bruce Lee. People continue to ask me, why would I choose Bruce Lee, when there are so many

more practical choices like Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Martian Luther King, Jr. I chose him, because he would be more of a fresher change from all the

Presidents and Political Leaders that are often chosen for this topic. There is no doubt about it that they were great men and did an extraordinary service to this

country. But the reasons, why I chose him over all others is because of his mental strength, fighting spirit and his self-actualization.

His mental strength was incredible, and he never let any thing distract him. It was like nothing else in the world existed, but the task at hand. He never gave up

until, whatever he had to accomplish was complete. It was more mental than just physical for him. It was as he called it, "Emotional Content." When he was adding

emotional content to every aspect of his life, he was becoming more and more of a caring person by helping every single person with an issue or difficulty in their

life, that came across his path.

What is even more impressive is his dedication towards self-actualization. Bruce Lee wanted to be the best him he could possibly be. He worked out from seven

o'clock in the morning to twelve o'clock in the afternoon every single day until his untimely death. He felt that if he was not improving himself he was wasting his

time. His biggest belief was that ever single day counted, and that you have one shot a day in which you can make a difference in the world, or watch that chance

to make a difference pass by before your very eyes.

The questions that I would probably ask him are, "how could I improve myself mentally and physically?" "How did he continue to fight through the course of his

life even with the weight of the world on his shoulders?" "At any point did he want to quit and if so how did he get over it?" Even though he never fully lived his

life he still made an impact on society. He believed that anything is possible no matter the background of the person or physical attributes. He is a great

inspiration for all those who want to improve themselves and their lives.
