How An Organized Football Team Made Me Want More! by Sterling - December 2019 Scholarship Essay

I believe that the captain position on a football team means that you have the ability to lead any group of men into a battle no matter the talent and that whether you come out victorious or not. That person is someone to look up to and say “He left it all out there for us,today blood, sweat, and tears.”
Young players deserve to see that from a young man so they can one day be at that point and give it all for their team when their time comes. I over the last 3 years have seen just that take place. Freshman year I watched Carson Bush give his body up for his team and put it all out on the line for them every practice and Friday night. Sophomore year I watched Adam Reid work his butt of for his running backs on the line and play exceptionally well at the middle linebacker position also including Arron Tabksley into the mix and I look up to them to an extreme. Junior year even though I was on the same side I witnessed Caleb Sherrel put in work on both sides of the ball because no one else had the drive like him! No one could have done what he did that year for us.
What do all these players have in common? All these men were once our captains and led us into battle and I would be more than thrilled to take on that role and go out for my boys every practice and Friday night and put it all on the line for them and no one else. Have their backs no matter what happens, whether it be an issue outside of football or on the field and just so they know they have someone who cares about them as a person as well as a football player. I don’t hype myself up ever but I do believe I possess these qualities that the young men before me possessed by working their butts off for their brothers.
