Foward. Never backwards by Stephanie - November 2022 Scholarship Essay

This semester has been difficult. It is my first semester at Oklahoma State university as a transfer student. I am a first-generation student looking for any opportunity to succeed. It has been a challenge to find a support system so far away from home as well as representation. I know what I expect my future to be, but I know I need assistance getting there.
During my search for resources, I found a couple of Hispanic advisors that offered me their help. Meeting these advisors gave me comfort. They are the representation I was looking for. Both advisors are Hispanic woman that achieved a college education and are now successful in their line of work. These ladies are willing to get out of their way to support their community. One of these advisors was helping me with my financial aid and once we were done, she said "De aqui para adelante, nunca para atras mija. " This short motivational sentence gave me inspiration to continue the path I am in. These words felt God sent. She may have not known how important it was for me to hear this. These words were said to me at the right time when I felt as if I was not able to achieve my goals and become fraud. Thanks to this event I have a boost of confidence in what I can achieve.
