I have been told numerous times that it is very important to be a leader, and it is necessary to succeed, not only in college, but in life. Leadership in today’s society is what gets a person where they want to be. If you are the person to sit down and let other people speak out, you will never get what you want. This is especially important in college and universities. Not only when you apply, but throughout your college endeavors. From the first impression applying for college, admissions committees want to know you are a leader, and have the qualities to be one. They want to know that you are involved in high school, and it is very impressive if you hold certain positions for clubs.

In college, you are required to do group projects. If a student were to not participate or try, or let someone else do the work, it would affect their grade. It is also very important to be a leader because it looks very grand on resumes, and impresses professors and employers. It allows your voice to be heard, and have people hear what you want to hear. It also allows someone to get work done. Being a person that has very strong leadership qualities, I always take charge. I make sure everyone that I’m working with is on task, and gets it finished. I also let people know how a task should be completed; the right way. If students didn’t take charge, nothing would get complete.

With organizations in college, other members rely on you to make the decisions and lead the other members in the right direction. You are also supposed to convince other students to join the organization. Leadership in college is a very important skill. It allows you to make yourself known and heard. You have to be a leader to be successful, it only helps you out in the long run.
