Mother's Working by Stacey - October 2019 Scholarship Essay

My entire life I have watched my parents struggle in order to give my siblings and I a better life. My dad worked multiple jobs to help provide for us. It was also difficult for my mother as she spoke English as a second language, had no job experience, not enough education, and was denied by every job. But with her determination, hard work and the help of friends, other people and different organizations within our community she became a CNA and is currently in school for nursing. I have seen and heard stories about people in our family and in our community who have suffered emotionally, mentally and even physically. This definitely affected the way I viewed the world and treated other people. My mother has been my biggest inspiration and because of her I am always working hard and am constantly willing to help other people whether it's something as simple as homework, to volunteering for an event. She has always told me that if ?I ever wanted to be somebody in this world I needed education in order to do that. I want to complete my education and use my knowledge and position in order to help people like my mother who just needed a chance and an extra push. Using my education to get people out of bad situations.
I have watched her struggle for years but still work hard in order to support us and see us succeed. As a result I worked harder. I made an effort to get straight A's even if it was difficult because I could never let her down. I took on more college classes in order to get them out of the way before even going to college. While both of my parents were at work I took care of my siblings while also keeping up with my grades and extracurriculars. She worked so hard so hard to get anywhere and I had to do the same. My mother has always been and always will be my biggest motivation for academic success.
