Varsity tutor scholarship: "where do I see myself in ten years?" by soukeye - June 2023 Scholarship Essay

Where do I see myself ten years from now? That's question that I often ponder about myself. Will I be the person I always envisioned myself to be; or will I be or do something else from what I currently strive to achieve? As for now, I can only state what or who I want to be in the near future because the truth is: a lot can happen in a few span of years; dreams, majors, or who a person is.

As of right now, I can only dream of what I want to achieve in the future because anything could change. I am certain that I want to study nursing and get into a great program in order to be an ER nurse and further work as a traveling nurse in a couple of years after working in different environments. I have always wanted to travel the world whilst being a nurse. I believe in the field of of nursing, there are a plethora of jobs and places where a person can work. You're not only limited to a few things; there are multiple different types of nurses who specialize in different fields.

My time at UW-Oshkosh as a future nursing student will prepare me to be ready to help any in need of care. The nursing program at UW-Oshkosh is one of the top programs in the state of Wisconsin. I intend to take full advantage of the on-campus resources and clubs offered to me in order to achieve a high level of understanding what it means to be a nurse and how valuable that is. furthermore, I can only achieve so much in such a short amount of time considering how time always seems to go fast whether one realizes it or not. It seems as if time can be our worst enemy and something to cherish as we watch days turn into weeks, months turn into years, and years turn into decades.

When I was in elementary through middle school, I always wanted to be a Cardiac Surgeon. I was so fascinated by the idea of heart surgery and was very much intrigued with the concept. As I entered high school, I took a CNA class and that completely changed my perspective of what I wanted to do with my life. I went on to complete clinal hours and took my CNA exam in order to be certified and start working in a nursing home. If I learned anything over the years it's: it is ok and understandable to do or be something else you imaged yourself to be in the past. While I can only hope in ten years that I work as a nurse and be successful, I can only strive to be the best given the resources and education I am receiving; even if I decide that nursing may not be something I am content with and found another path that I love, I can always ensure myself that I will be the best version of me and not change who I am for the sake of pleasing others.
