If I Were a College Professor, What Class Would I Teach and Why? by Skyla - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

I would have to say that I would teach Culinary Arts. There are several reasons why I say this. One of them is simply that Culinary Arts is what I plan to major in. The second is that cooking is what I am good at. I also enjoy helping ignite a passion in someone, and then helping them turn that passion into a career.
Culinary Arts is my intended major for several reasons. One is that I enjoy working in the kitchen. The second is that I have already gotten my basics in that career area and have decided that I want to build on what I already know.
When I say that cooking is what I am good at, I mean it. I have been helping my mom in the kitchen since I was two, working with a knife since I was three, and putting a full meal on the table since I was nine. Just for the record, I do still have all of my fingers. I have completed my basics in Culinary Arts already, not only that, I completed the two-year course in one year. And if you still have doubts about my skills, just ask our 4-H Fall Food Festival Judges, they love me.
I also like to help ignite a person’s passion in something. In 4-H, I have helped with this several times. Seeing someone become passionate about something is amazing, and when you help them along the way that feeling is even better. If I could go to work and do that every day that would be the most amazing thing in the world.
I mean everything that I have written from the bottom of my heart. Culinary Arts is the college major that I am going to take; I have already set myself on that path. I am not only good at cooking, but I love it, I put my heart into every dish that I make. And I really enjoy helping ignite someone’s passion, and then helping them learn about what they love. That is why I would choose to teach Culinary Arts if I were a college professor.
