Listen, Compromise, Share by Siena - December 2017 Scholarship Essay

Success is a goal for all endeavors in life. Success is achieved by corralling many moving parts, and organizing the moving parts into a strategy. When participating in a school project, the strategy for success is simple: listen, compromise, and share.
An integral part of any school activity is to listen to others in the group. A lack of listening leads to a roadblock on the path to success. School projects challenge each participant to work as a team member and to evaluate and to consider each other’s opinions. Listening to others in the group establishes a forum from which success can be achieved. The more minds at work, the better the chance at success.
In addition to listening to others, it is important to take their opinions into consideration. Each student has an idea, one not more important than another. All ideas should be brought to the forum to have a chance to be incorporated into the group project. If one idea conflicts with another, it could be best to combine those ideas and to formulate a compromise. Compromising, instead of only choosing one idea, strengthens the school project as facilitates the road to success.
While listening to others and formulating compromises, it is important to not forget the value of your own opinions. Your ideas are commensurate to your partners’ ideas and strengthen the school project exponentially. Rather than harboring your ideas, contribute them to the discussion to increase the potential for success.
School projects can present a myriad of difficulties and discouragements. But if the “listen, compromise, and share” strategy is implemented, the difficulties disappear and the discouragements dissolve. With this ultimate strategy, success on school projects can be achieved.
