My Mother by Sidney - March 2023 Scholarship Essay

The person that has positively impacted me is my mother. She is my main supporter and my manager of sorts. She has kept me up-to-date with basic college and school information that can be helpful to me. She has taken me to college tours as well as taken me to lessons with the music professors at the schools. Because my mom has pushed me so much to get into colleges, I am now in good graces with many professors across all of my college list. My mom never let me settle for less than what I deserve. She has raised my standard of living a substantial amount from where is was at the beginning of my senior year.
Many adults in my life have told me countless times that I am way more prepared than they were going to college. It makes me realize that many people didn’t have this deep level of support and encouragement when entering college, and still got by with what they had. It gives me a sense of security to know that when I enter whatever college I choose, that I will be ready and prepared for whatever is thrown at me. When I did a tour of a college I asked a student what I needed to do to get ready for the college life, and she said “exactly this.” I couldn’t believe it, but as time goes on I can only thank my mother for it. A strong women that keeps me in check and helps me achieve what I know I can accomplish.
