The Justice Files by Shemmyla - June 2014 Scholarship Essay

Synopsis:

Young couple Aaron and India had gone through their fair share trials and heartache, which effected their whole being: mentally, physically, socially, emotionally, spiritually and financially. When the two find out that they were expecting a baby, they vowed to raise their child differently. “What if we raised our child with no limitations, no fears and no impossibilities”, they asked themselves? “What if we cultivated the way our child thought, which allowed him or her to utilize 100% of his or her brain? Would the end product, the baby’s life/ adult years, be more successful and fulfilling than ours?”

Baby girl Justice was born and thrived in her parents’ limitless environment. Aaron and India noticed that their child had showcased some supernatural abilities by the age of two, which included willing her sippy cap to her hand and changing the TV to her favorite cartoon without touching the remote. “Were these action created be “Nurture or Nature” or a combination”, they asked themselves? All they knew is that what they were experiencing was astounding and they needed to document every moment of Justice’s life, which they would later referred to as, “The Justice Files”.

Why:

It is a known fact that we, as humans, are not utilizing 100% of our brain. What this really equates to me is that we are living life not being the best versions of ourselves. The American psychologist and author William James, said it this way, "We are making use of only a small part of our possible mental and physical resources”. If we intentionally cultivated the minds our children to think and develop in a limitless environment and gave them all the tools necessary to excel, would their lives be different?
