Passion That's Hard at Work by Shannon - December 2018 Scholarship Essay

A Nobel Prize represents the highest honor anyone working in a field of study can receive. It shows resilience, passion and true mastery. Even just being considered for the Nobel Prize is a high honor which means the qualities of my recipient need to be just as respected. My recipient would have to have the following two qualities: a positive, long-lasting effect created by their contribution to their field, and an obvious love and passion for the area to which they made their contribution.

My first necessary quality is very important because it represents the proof that the recipient’s work was worthwhile and created a positive change. It is their mark on the world and how they will be remembered forever in history. If this mark changed the lives of others for the better, then it deserves to be awarded and recognized for its greatness. It also represents the amount of work and effort that the recipient went through for their cause. Their contribution shows their dedication and resilience to succeed, two reputable qualities.

My second requirement may seem like an obvious quality but I believe that it is often overlooked. Someone who loves what they do with a bright passion notwithstanding the opinions of spectators has found their purpose in life. They have dedicated their lives to the one thing that makes them whole with the soul purpose of fulfilling themselves and fulfilling the lives of others. These are the people that make the greatest difference. They are strong, resilient and don’t care for the fame and fortune that the Nobel Prize brings. Their greatest prize is seeing the results of their efforts at work. These are the people that deserve to be recognized.
