My Most Influencial Teacher by Shannon - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

The most important lesson I learned from a teacher was to work hard to chase your dreams and don't stop until you achieve them. My agriculture teacher in high school was also my FFA chapter advisor. He helped me in countless ways, but the most important thing he taught me was to never give up. No matter what any of his students choose to do, he always made sure to be completely supportive of every single one of us. Some of the students in the class were interested in welding, while some of us were interested in the livestock. Not only did he encourage us to go after our dreams, but he also encouraged us to try new things.

I personally have always been interested in large livestock animals, such as horses and cattle. My teacher not only encouraged me to chase my dream of becoming a Veterinarian, but also made me realize that I was good at horticulture and welding. Throughout high school I tried so many things before I realized that my first choice really was the number one choice for me.

He was my most influential teacher for helping all his students find their strengths and weaknesses and teaching us to always chase our dreams. I feel like he was not only an amazing teacher to me but to all of his students.I am still being influenced by his lesson as I am going through college. Although my road through college so far has not been easy and has had many obstacles I continue to chase my dream and find new paths to get where I want to be. I know that eventually I will achieve my dream and get where I want to be. I hope my classmates took as much from that important lesson from him as I did.
