Life in ten years with Educational Contribution by Shanice - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

There is a lot of room for achievement and improvement in ten years. My education will be of great assistance and is/will continue to be the basis for achieving all of my goals. I will first work towards getting an associate(s) and/or bachelor’s degree straight out of high school (when college begins of course). I am in the process of deciding whether or not I should get an associate’s degree in radiography/radiologic technology, then transferring and getting a bachelor’s degree in radiation therapy. Also, I am considering getting two associate degrees, which would be double-majoring in radiography and medical technology, then transferring to get a bachelor’s degree in radiation therapy. Another option I am weighing is going straight for a bachelor’s of radiation therapy degree. The final option I am weighing is going straight for two bachelor’s degrees, one in radiation therapy and the other in medical laboratory science. Then, I may pursue a master’s degree in laboratory science along with a graduate certificate in hematology, and then pursue a doctorate degree. Alternatively, I may immediately pursue a doctorate degree in another medical/ scientific field. My ultimate goals are to become a radiation therapist, bone densitometry technologist (training and certification), hematology medical laboratory scientist (degree and certification), and a divorce mediator (training and certification) so far for sure. Sometime in the midst, I will be seeking out bone densitometry technologist and divorce mediation training programs. In ten years, I hope to have my doctorate degree or be in the process of working on getting the degree. I will be getting my doctorate degree in a scientific/medical field.
All my career choices have different descriptions. A radiation therapist administers radiation by controlling a machine called a linear accelerator which delivers radiation to parts of the person’s body with the cancer. A medical technician (associates or lower) is supervised by a medical technologist (bachelors or higher) but performs many of the same duties, just with supervision. Technicians examine various bodily fluids, urine samples, and many more with heavy duty equipment such as a microscope. Hematology is the study of blood, which is what a hematology medical laboratory scientist would specialize in examining. Bone densitometry technologists are able to calculate the density of bones using x-rays. A divorce mediator mediates divorces and is often a more peaceful and affordable alternative to hiring a lawyer.
In terms of home life, I may move out of state. I hope to have a car and possibly pay off for it in the next ten years. I would hope to be living an apartment or house before ten years. I will be working multiple jobs in ten years, all careers I have strong interest in. I may bring a child into the picture with someone I love or I/we will adopt older child/children. I can be certain that my child will be well-taken care of by me. I aspire to be independent and earn my own money. I would like to begin my own foundation for anyone and everyone suffering from any kind of invisible illnesses and symptoms (known and unknown), if I have the time/funds. I hope to be involved with various charitable foundations and organizations within ten years. I think I would like to do some traveling both country-wide and globally (not too far) when I am established in life. My education and careers will eventually definitely provide me with the adequate funds to do so if all goes well. There will most likely be loans I will be working to pay off since I plan to further my education so much.
I have always valued education and I believe it is definitely the key to success. I have and will continue to prepare for my goals as best as I can. I hope that during the process of continuing all my hard work, I can achieve a beneficial balance with everything. Although I am not completely certain of the order of everything, I am going to try and achieve as many of my goals that I possibly can as long as I live. I have a lot of plans for my life and my education will certainly help me achieve them.
