Skills and Experience by Shanera - May 2018 Scholarship Essay
I expect to use skills and experiences from Colorado Technical University that will propel my short and long-term goals. I hope to develop an experiential and diverse learning experience and have the opportunity to interact with different groups of people to learn from their business insights and endeavors. From Colorado Technical University, resources needed to further engage in my marketing knowledge, perform professional strategic analyses, and re-evaluate my past work experiences. The second biggest career goal that I want to accomplish is to establish a non-profit organization where I can create internships for medical school students around the U.S., and allow them to travel to isolated communities around the world to provide free medical services. I also want to provide nutrition education to support these marginalized communities, especially indigenous groups from Latin American countries. This will help contribute to the physical development of kids and offer a solution to malnutrition. Admittedly, for any student to attain a successful higher education, he/she should keep in mind that taking notes while attending lectures and chat sessions is of much more importance. Wrongly viewed is that attending courses on a regular basis would be sufficient to get satisfactory grades; yes, this would be right provided that it is backed up by note-taking skills: with a notebook, student can learn better skills of memorizing things. Having these skills of note-taking helps the revision process and avoid cramming. In a constantly changing environment, having life skills is an essential part of being able to meet the challenges of everyday life. The dramatic changes in global economies over the past five years have been matched with the transformation in technology and these are all impacting on education, the workplace and our home life. To cope with the increasing pace and change of modern life, students need new life skills such as the ability to deal with stress and frustration. Today’s students will have many new jobs over the course of their lives, with associated pressures and the need for flexibility. The more we develop life skills individually, the more these affect and benefit the world in which we live. Recognizing cultural awareness and citizenship makes international cooperation easier. Respecting diversity allows creativity and imagination to flourish developing a more tolerant society. Developing negotiation skills, the ability to network and empathize can help to build resolutions rather than resentments. Prioritizing even though you have an estimated million (give or take a few) things to do; you know what needs to be done when. You have to learn to schedule your time based on the task at hand and get things done based on their level of importance. Multi-tasking is a skill I learn from Colorado Technical University because if you can do more things at one time then, you can get things done a lot more quicker, only remember to take your time at all you do. Going to this school has so much flexibility because you can manage your life and get an education.
