The Importance of Continuing Education for the Younger Generation by Shana - March 2018 Scholarship Essay

I believe in encouraging the younger generation to keep going in their educational pursuit, not that they would understand it in those words but if I could talk to a room full of second graders about the importance of continuing education it would probably be more like the following:
As a prior second grader, I know the last thing on your mind is college or even third grade at this point but we will pretend we are time travelers going ahead into the future to see ourselves in our older bodies; and maybe even some of our friends and classmates! So close your eyes and feel the ride moving us to the future... its going to be a little bit but we will get there. Now for a moment while we are waiting to get there, lets remember our home, family, pets as it is now. Youre probably thinking of all the comforts of home, watching TV, playing with friends, eating our favorite foods. Well now open your eyes and look at how you are as an adult. Do you have nice clothes on or dirty unkempt clothes? Do you look hungry or well fed? Do you look stressed out or relaxed and happy? Whatever you see is the result of if you decided to keep going to school to make sure you were the best version of yourself or you decided to just wait and see what happens and get by. Usually its a little harder to have nice clothes, a nice car, a nice home and even to make sure your pets are well taken care of, especially making sure their little bellies are full every day if you don't have a good job which is why you should go to college to make sure you find what you love to do and how to do it the best way possible from college teachers.

When you see yourself, you may be surprised at how well you did, and the ones that see themselves successful are probably the ones that went on to college which we also call continued learning. You not only go on to college to get material things because they break, get lost or just don't work any more for what ever reason, we do it to help others in some way or form. Apparently, being a doctor or nurse helps people get better, a builder makes skyscrapers, bridges among other things so people have a way to get to work and a place to work in but it takes a higher level of learning from someone who can show you and tell you how to do these things that you choose to do.

College can be fun and exciting, especially when you find something that you really like, but it can also be challenging, strengthening your brain like you never knew it could be, doing things only you can dream of right now. College can make dreams come true for a lot of people and already has, you will not know if you don't at least take a chance and that future you will be the best you because you made the right decision to continue your education.
