Mental Heath and how to solve it. by Sean - November 2018 Scholarship Essay

In most high schools we are worried about academic, physical or social strengths. Which aren't bad things just that to make a well-rounded student you need the mental toughness to perform just as much if not more than your other strengths. That's why my senior quote would be, "The Biggest Threat to successfulness is doubt." because to be successful you can't let anything get in your way, and that includes yourself. The moment you doubt yourself you immediately start to fail.

How do I know this you might ask, well you see that I'm dyslexic and I found out in the most inopportune time. The struggle that I've gone through to keep my grades up was unmeasurable even at times going from 7 pm to 1 am, merely working on math to make sure I was going to pass algebra 2. Looking back now a half year later, I realize that that set back actually took me leaps and bounds ahead of my pears based solely on my mental toughness.

The reasoning why I think that should be my senior quote is because I'm not going to let my doubts define me. I believe that schools should teach mental toughness so kids like me can get the academic help they need. I'm finding it funny that our most successful kids lack the abity to talk to one another for support. In the real world, we know the most successful people ask questions. In conclusion, I will leave it off with some questions. Why are schools trying to teach us innovation in the most un-innovative way? Why do some drop out students have made more than Harvard graduates?
