How I proved the pessimists wrong by Savannah - December 2016 Scholarship Essay
The accomplishment I am the most proud of is graduating high school. Not that I was on the verge of dropping out, but I have the type of family that would say nasty things and made bets with each other that I would fall pregnant and drop out at sixteen. I am the type of person to make those kind of people lose those bets, I was on the honor roll my junior and senior year and I graduated all while I was in sports, I wasn't very good at them but they were fun to play anyways. I was also working as a certified nurses aid at the local hospital and long term care facility, Daniels Memorial Healthcare Center.
All while school, I wasn't the most focused student. I had horrible study habits and never wanted to actually wanted to do the studies but I did it anyway to prove all those that didn't think I could make it successfully wrong. In a way, I am grateful for those pessimists that I had in my path. They pushed me to the top more then they had intended on doing. I cannot wait to prove to them that I can also become a nurse and be a great role model to my children as they grow.
