Making A Difference Through Education by Sarah - November 2015 Scholarship Essay

Throughout the history of our great nation, we have had many influential leaders. George Washington, the father of our country, inspired many by his example of running our nation with passion and great leadership. Eleanor Roosevelt inspired many women around the world and in the United States. She fought for the rights of everyone. Albert Einstein taught us how to think outside the box and that giving up is never an option. These inspirational people, along with many others, have inspired me to make a difference. Education has taught me how to make a difference. Learning how to change the world and be influential has been the aspect of my education that I am most grateful for.

Through my education, I have learned and continue to learn about the history of many nations and people. I have learned about men and women who have fought for what was right. They fought with passion, they fought with their hearts. I have learned about the remarkable human body and how the body's functions have sustained life on earth for thousands of years and how it continues to amaze those who study it. I have learned about the earth and the important role it plays in our lives. English, math, and music have taught me how we communicate with each other, how to solve problems, and how to express myself through song and through music. All of these educational experiences have made me who I am. I am passionate about learning. I am especially passionate about making a difference. And my education has taught me how to do that.

My education has provided me with the knowledge I need to make a difference. I have learned how to save a life by detecting what disease or illness a human may be ailed with. I have learned how to communicate and convey information to the public. I have learned that when it comes to making a difference, there is no one better qualified than yourself. My education has taught me all of these things and so much more.

I am grateful to live in a country where education is given freely. Here in the United States, learning and education is encouraged. I am grateful for the teachers that have influenced my life and changed the way I see the world. One of my most recent writing teachers taught me that the power of attitude will change the world. The world is a big place. There are many nations and individual people that need a light and a voice. I want to be that light and that voice. My education has taught me how to accomplish this by teaching me initiative and public relations. Education has taught me that I have a voice that can be heard, and education is teaching me how to follow my dreams.

Learning how to make a difference is the aspect of my education that I am most grateful for. Along with George Washington, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Albert Einstein, I want to make a difference. My personal motto is, "If you want to make a change, be the change." I believe that with all my heart. Our leaders made a difference and decided to be the change. There is no one more qualified than yourself to make a difference. My education has prepared me to make a difference. I am truly grateful for education.
