So You're Becoming a Freshman by Sarah - November 2014 Scholarship Essay
Transferring into high school is definitely one of the scariest thing a child can do in their whole life. Going to a completely different school with a whole new atmosphere and new people, who would not be scared? However, if the incoming freshmen remember to always listen to their teachers and principals, do all their work, and just be themselves, those four years will go by reasonably quick and easy.
When going into high school, or any form of education, it is important to remember to always do what the faculty tells you to. If your teacher tells you to write a 1,000 word essay, you do it. If your principal wants you to be at school on time every day, you should do just that. Even if one of the cafeteria workers says you should have at least one vegetable on your plate, you might as well get a vegetable because it could not hurt you if you eat it. Always do what the school employees ask of you and you will form great relationships with them, and they can help you survive the rest of the high school.
Your teachers are going to give you homework and some will give you more than others. A simple solution to that is to do it all. Even if you do not know exactly how to do it all, if you try your best and attempt to answer it all, you will be fine. Ask how to do the difficult math problems or how to diagram the ridiculously long sentence or how to fill in a Punnett square. The teachers care, they will help you until you know how to do it. But they will only help you after you try to do the work yourself.
The best advice anyone could be given when going into any new stage in life is to just be yourself. You should not try to be someone that you’re not so that you can be popular or have uncountable friends or to even get that girl or guy you think is cute. Being yourself could be the one thing that keeps you from straying off the path that you should be on to live that life you are supposed to live. Therefore, be yourself and others will come to like who you truly are or they will not. Either way you will realize that it is ultimately the best thing to do.
Going into high school as a freshman is extremely tough. New people, new school, new teachers, new activities, and numerously more new things that a person never knows about until that year comes. But when it does, one should always remember to do what they are told, do all of their work with help as needed, and to be themselves. With these three pieces of advice, a young boy or girl should be able to make it to his or her graduation day will great ease.
