The Hunger Games by Sarah - July 2013 Scholarship Essay

The best book I’ve ever read for school has to The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Every summer in high school I always hated how they made us read a certain book over the summer, especially since the book was always one that never interested me. I have always loved reading but when I’m forced to read something I don’t like, it can take me weeks just to finish it, if I even do. The summer before my junior year was different though, we were assigned to read The Hunger Games. I had never read it before but I knew the plot of the book, and I was actually excited about this summer reading book. As soon as I sat down to read The Hunger Games, I couldn’t stop because it was that good. I finished it in less than two days, and I couldn’t wait to get the next book in the series. After reading the third book I was actually sad that it was all over, but I soon learned that they were making a movie of The Hunger Games. For once I was assigned to read a book that I enjoyed, and most of my class enjoyed it as well. With that being said I think that the best book I’ve ever read for school has to be The Hunger Games.
