Love by Sarah - January 2018 Scholarship Essay
LOVE
I want to attend college because I have a love of education, community, and adventure. All these things I can find at college.
Education is key to self development. I strongly believe that college is about growing and learning and finding yourself. It is an investment in your future self. Academically, higher education can usually provide financial stability. But beyond that, there is so much to learn from experiences in and outside of the classroom. This is not only an opportunity for a better career, but also for personal growth and learning how to make good decisions.
Community is where you live and who you serve. While living in the college environment, I will advocate for the things I am passionate about. I love to play and coach volleyball, and I will continue to be a part of that in college. It is so exciting to be a part of a team and encourage people to do their best. Team building is something you can do anywhere. You can build up the people who live in your dorm, you can assist people around your campus, and you can inspire people to greatness as you live with honesty and integrity.
Adventure come in many forms involving unknown risks and unusual experiences. For example, having a stranger as a roommate will definitely be an adventure! Finding my way through college when one door opens and another door closes, will be steps in my path of life’s adventure. I also look forward to the idea of traveling to new places as I explore the city that surrounds me.
After I graduate from college, my love for these things will continue to have real value in my future. My education will drive me to continue learning. My community will be a place where I can serve people in both my career and social connections. The adventure of college and where life will take me after that is going to be a remarkable experience. And I am going to LOVE it.
