"Family" by Sarah - January 2018 Scholarship Essay
If I could use one word to describe why I plan to attend college, it would have to be “family”. Family is the most important thing to me. Your family will always be there for you and love you. They will encourage you, support your decisions and be there for you no matter what. I would choose the word family because I could look at it from so many different aspects. For my future family, after college when I get married and have kids. So that I can have a good job with good pay and am able to support my family. I want to be able to provide stability for my family. It could also make my pay increase when I have a job because I have more experience and further education than just a high school diploma. It will show businesses that I apply for that I am a hard worker, that I am able to follow through with work, I am capable and dependable.
Family in present time because I will be the first child of my parents to go to college and that is something to be proud of. I will set an example for my younger brother and sister. They will look up to me and want to go to college and further educate themselves because their big sister did. Being a first-generation college student will be rewarding because I will not only make my family proud now but I am helping better myself for my future life and family.
