Bright by Sarah - January 2018 Scholarship Essay
With a positive meaning and connotation, bright is a word that can be used in many ways. Whether it's a noun, an adjective, or adverb, bright has the same positive meaning. I for one like to use the word bright to describe my future. A bright future would be one that is full of purpose, full of life, and full of happiness. I know that not every moment in my life will be bright, but in the end, it will be worth it in order to have the brightest future. In order to achieve this bright life, I need to go through all the hard work first. That would include getting a job, going through years of school and getting a career.
College is something a lot of people go through in their lifetime in order to pursue a dream or a career of their choice. Some people take longer than others, but in the end, it is all worth it to them. They all end up achieving their greatest feats to become something that they believe they can be. That's exactly what I need to do in order to secure my future. Attending college and getting my degree in Neurology is something I have thought about for a long time and realized that this is where my future lies. Getting a PhD in Neurology isn't going to be easy, and will take a while to complete, but it is worth it when I am out there in the end, helping people; that is my bright future. So I wish to attend college so I can have the brightest future possible. I want to help people, I want to be financially stable and secure, and I want to have a family, but it won't be possible if I don't get the degree I am gunning for: a degree in neurology. Having a bright future is something everyone wants, not a gloomy future, or a sad future, or no future at all; but in order to get there, college is one of the obstacles that needs to be conquered. It is not just college that can be an obstacle either, sometimes relationships can be.
There could be a decision, at some point, to get married and have a family while I am still in college, but I refuse to let that play out and get in the way of my career. I come from a family that is not the richest because my parents did that, they got married during college and starting have a family. My mother never finished college but my father went back and finished up college to secure our future as a family. Our future has been bright because of my parents working hard each and every day to make sure we have the best lives possible. That is something I want: to let my kids have the brightest future they can have by working hard each and every day. My parents are a huge influence because they still work hard so that their kids, including me, can a bright life and future. If I were to use a word to describe how my family is, I would use the word bright. Bright is one of those words where its always positive and uplifting, so when I use it, I am always saying something constructive; that is why I chose it. Being positive helps me get by everyday and helps me conquer different feats. So I am hopeful that one day I am going to accomplish college and get the bright future I earned.
Going through college and earning a degree is one of lifetimes biggest accomplishments. I have told you what kind of future and life I want by using the word bright many times. The word bright is a very positive word, so I chose it because it is exactly what I want my future to be. Everyone has their own vision of what kind of future they want, and I want a bright future. A future, almost like a dream that is going to be hard to achieve, is going to be one of the biggest accomplishments in my lifetime.
