All Thanks to Mrs. Brown by Sarah - July 2014 Scholarship Essay
The teacher that has positively affected my attitude towards education is my high school Spanish teacher, Mrs. Brown. Mrs. Brown is very hard-working. She is the kind of teacher that any student would feel comfortable talking to. She has a family of her own with three small children. Mrs. Brown is also the leader of the Student Council, in charge of the National Honor Society at the high school, and part of the group of teachers that organizes all of the homecoming events in the fall. Alongside of all of these extra activities, she is also the Spanish teacher. My high school was very small, so she was accountable for teaching all levels of Spanish from one to four. On average, Mrs. Brown taught eight different lessons a day and saw around one hundred students. With teaching to that many students comes the responsibility of grading papers and tests, and helping students before and after school. The dedication Mrs. Brown has to teaching is truly inspiring. She is the reason I decided to go to college in the first place. She pushed me to do my best in school and she believed in me.
When I was decided if I should attend college and which college I should choose, Mrs. Brown explained to me how she mad e the same decision for herself. She also struggled with obtaining enough financial assistance to attend college. She spoke with me about the classes I could take and the organizations and clubs that I could possible join. Mrs. Brown told me she believed that I could accomplish great things. She always said furthering your education is the best possible thing you could ever do for yourself, and I trusted and believed her. Continuing my education wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of Mrs. Brown. I am truly thankful for her attitude towards education.
