My College Professor Dream in Biblical Archaeology by Sarah - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I was to teach as a college professor I would definitely love to teach Biblical Archaeology. To me Biblical Archaeology is not just a career or something you just teach. It is something you can actually study with others and gain more knowledge and discovery with other people who are just as interested in the field. You can go out and do digs in unique places, travel with students and unlock pieces of the past that make history so real even from a seat in a classroom. So many people underestimate the gifts God has blessed us with and the technology that has helped us make the discoveries we have! To teach and equip others with this desire to uncover the mysteries of God's Word would be an indescribable passion and joy that would bring me great satisfaction. To show the world the truths that lay beneath mountains, in caves, in "new" lands that the disciples of Jesus and many other Biblical figures have walked. For me it would be a profession that never would die or you would get tired of, it is a part of history that will forever enrapture the Christian's heart and the very core of what we believe in. To be apart of new discoveries and truth would be something I could only dream of being a part of in no matter what career I pursue. Praise the Lord that nothing is impossible with Him, so I believe that if I ever did become a college professor in this God would continue to open a new door to discovery.
Discoveries that would continue to back up "why" Christians believe in God and His Word. Finding and researching the actual pieces of history form thousands of years ago! I could go on forever on why I would love to teach this to students in a Christian university. To share and show them the truth that can be found to show the world and ultimately bring realization and salvation to those that doubt God's Word so much. The discovery continues on. It is a career that never dies. Though with much perseverance it takes and at times quite frustrating, there is an underlying joy and satisfaction that comes form just learning new things, uncovering mysteries from the past, and sharing it with students and faculty the discoveries and excitement that will take you to the next discovery or clue. Yes, this would be a career I would love teaching as a professor.
I would continue to learn from my field of study as a professor in this all of my days. The knowledge and discovery in the Scriptures is never ending. You always learn something new and as my journey as a believer in Christ continues I continue to see God's handiwork and marvelous timing come through with each new discovery from the time of Creation, the Flood, and many Bible accounts. The truth remains to come alive and once again would be a field of study that would never grow dim, at least not for me. Biblical Archaeology is the career I would choose and these are the reasons as to why I would choose it as a class I would personally love to teach.
