Lesson Learned by Sarah - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

Teachers are constantly teaching, it's their job. Even when you talk to them outside of class they are going to try and teach you some lesson if they can apply one to the situation. Most of the time its something about making sure you don't procrastinate or this is what happens when you do not read the book, but sometimes, sometimes the lesson is far more profound than becoming a better student.
This past semester in my biology class my professor was going through the process that it takes to make an embryo and then to have that embryo develop into a fully functioning human being. He talked about the millions and millions of things that could go wrong during these steps to being born. When we are being made there are so many chances for something to stop development, that we are unique in the fact that there were thousands of other attempts to make another human that did not make it because of the millions and millions of complicated steps. He was telling us each that we are unique and that we already went through so much to get here. Through this lesson I heard take nothing for granted. Life is a constant up hill battle and we have already won one fight. Some people go through way more fights and others in their lifetimes and we need to take advantage of every moment that we can. We must put up a fight when things get tough because we already made it through the hardest one.
