Piece of Advice by Sarah - April 2016 Scholarship Essay

Throughout my many years in school, there is one piece of advice that I wish someone had told me. I am always the one to push myself and try to work to my full potential but sometimes it just isn't enough. The stress of not knowing what the outcome of different events will be was always something that put continuous stress in my life. The entire college process consisted of numerous nights laying and thinking to myself, "what am I going to do next"? One piece of advice I would give people is, everything happens for a reason and that you can't control everything that happens to you.

Stress is something everyone feels, and if you're a high school junior or senior, you know those feelings very well. Being someone who likes to know everything that's going on and having a grip on the outcome of things, the college process was very stressful on me. I want to make sure the students younger than me know that everything will be okay. If you don't get into your number one school, you're still going to have an amazing time at the runner up. If you can't afford your dream school, it's not the end of the world. The experiences that you have and the memories that you will make is in your hands and its up to you to make the best out of every situation.

Life is a constant roller coaster, full of ups and downs and things you can't control. Living in the moment and being optimistic are the only things you can do to ensure yourself a life that you are proud of. There is no point in crying over things you can;t control like money problems, decisions, and many others. The things that happen, happen for a reason and will end up making you a better person in the long run. Live in the moment and get excited for what is to come.
