Where I will be in 10 years by Sara - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
It is extremely hard to imagine what my life will be like ten years from now. Vanity aside, one thing I have always wondered is how I will look as an adult. I have frequently pondered how similar my future self will look to my present self.
Even if my appearance does not change very much ten years from now, I would like to say that many other things will. I am the kind of person who likes change, finds it exciting, and embraces it. I believe that change is a healthy thing and is one of the ways that we can all grow as a person.
That being said, in ten years I will be almost 30 years old. By that age I would have definitely wanted to be long out of college, graduated with a degree in advertising. I hope by then also to be holding a steady job that I am not only dedicated to and good at, but love doing. I want to bring a passion to work with me every day, not just do it because it brings in a pay check.
By then I want to be financially independent and steady. I want to own a home and to be married, almost starting a family of my own. I feel like having children one day is something that I need to do to feel complete. I want to help raise a new generation with some of the greatest qualities and to give them opportunities I wished I had had, so that they may be able to change the future for the better and make a difference in the world.
I want to be able to pass on the things I learn in my life to my children, to teach them the value of hard work and or giving back to the community. I want to show them how to empathize with others, and to teach them what they can do to eliminate the injustices that happen to people all around the world.
I see myself leading and taking my family to do many service projects, and especially giving back to those in need during the holiday season.
