My Path to Teaching by Sara - February 2024 Scholarship Essay

I am going to major in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education.I am the daughter and grand daugther of Kindergarten teachers and have spent a lot of my time growing up helping in their classrooms. The tasks that my mother would assign to me to fufill, like cutting up papers or sorting through toys for her classroom, were things I would always enjoy doing. I believed I was helping make student's educations more impactful for them.

Every year since I was in sixth-grade, I volunteer for Vacation Bible School to help in the classrooms. Vacation Bible school runs for five days where kids get to learn about Jesus. Ever since sixth-grade I would grow more fond of the kids and be impressed by them. I enjoyed doing the tasks the lead teacher of the classroom would have for me and I also loved helping teach them about whatever they were learning that day. I liked their creativity and their joyfulness and it made me want to spend my life in the education field just so I could watch them learn and grow as people.

I feel prepared to be able to become a teacher because of how much I have helped in classrooms and how much I enjoy children.
