Productivity And Its Perks by Sara - January 2022 Scholarship Essay

Every day, many people in the world experience things in person. Such as school, work, meetings, and more. Unfortunately that all changed once 2020 hit and only after the 2021 school year did things begin to change back to what people would describe as normal while still having many challenges that helped change them, whether it is a good or bad change really depends on the person. What about me? Did I develop any skills specifically to help me with my academic success?
To answer the question, I did in fact develop some skills during 2021 that are very helpful to me when it comes to my academics. I could write them all down explaining each one, but there is one particular skill I have developed in the span of 2021 that I hope to never lose. That skill is productivity. Many people would like to lay around and do nothing because it's comfortable, getting to lay down on the couch and watch tv sounds like a great day. For me though, after 2020 where everything was inside and at home, I was tired of doing nothing. I decided that during 2021 I was going to be productive, do something, do anything. Whenever I got homework, I worked on it immediately. Once I could apply for my college of choice I did so immediately and every couple of weeks I end up getting myself more productive by looking for as many scholarships as I can apply for. This skill of productivity and resilience to procrastination has helped me this entire senior year of high school. I stay on top of my grades, doing projects, homework, and more. Only when I'm done with everything do I let myself have free time to myself as a reward.
When a person knows there is a reward at the end of a project, assignment, etc. They will suddenly become very productive because they want that reward at the end. For example, I use my own thinking on myself. If I finish all my homework, do a few scholarships, and projects, then I can be that person who lays on the couch watching as much TV as I want because I earned it. Plus it feels great to get everything I need to get done rather than stressing about it later.
To summarize, I have learned alot of skills during 2021 but the most important one I developed was to keep myself busy and productive. Using a reward at the end as my motivation to create a productive mindset to get things done.
