#EndlessPossibilities by Sara - April 2018 Scholarship Essay
#EndlessPossibilites. Two words. Seven syllables. 138,564 tags on Instagram. This simple hashtag embodies what education is all about and how it fuels the future of tomorrow.
It all starts when your teachers open the doors for you at preschool and you are learning about colors and drawing. With a blank canvas and the tools given to you by teachers the things one can draw upon this piece of blank paper are endless. At about elementary school level, when advanced thinking is introduced the most cliché question of education is presented, "What do you what to be when you grow up?" While volunteering recently at my local elementary school with Junior Achievement of New York I got all the answers in the book. Some responses included but definitely not limited to: police officer, veterinarian, cowboy, mother, and more. Asking questions like these and allowing freedom of expression to kids shows they understand the concept of having endless possibilities even at such a young age.
As time progresses the extent to these possibilities increases and peers begin to see how with resources that education feeds them they can have success within the world. By secondary schooling it is shown at through hard work your accomplishments inside and outside the classroom can shine brighter than others. Even at a very young age I loved to learn, so school became enjoyable for me. Due to the fact that I loved school so much my secondary learning was pushed toward Advanced Placement. I am a proud student today because of my teachers who are helping me fulfill a promising future for myself and for society because the children of today inevitably are the people of tomorrow. With my love for school, work ethic instilled to me by my family and teachers, and wonderful education I am now finally opening my own doors to the #EndlessPossibilities that will be my life.
With the education, passionate teachers, and supportive family I was blessed to have during my thirteen years in public education I am proud to say I was never held back to pursue what I wanted to in my schooling career. This is allowing me to further my possibilities in business at a four year institution and aspire to inspire people around me; much like education and my teachers inspire me every day.
