Projecting Project Success by Sara - December 2017 Scholarship Essay

School projects are like two very bad cuss words to the ears of most students. These projects usually mean research, creativity, weighted grades, and more time. When faced with these things, it is easy to become discouraged. School already takes up so much time, and a project only adds on to the work load. However, school projects do not have to be that scary if you have the right tools.
First, knowing how to conduct research efficiently relieves so much of that project stress. Learn how to use key words in web searches, how to look up books in the library, how to used a table of contents, and how to take notes. These skills are key to doing helpful research that will benefit your project.
Creativity is also essential for projects as teachers progressively seek out more and more creative ideas. Projects that catch attention (for all the right reasons) have a better chance of making a higher grade. Before beginning a project, brainstorm some ideas to make your presentation more creative, attention-getting, and interesting.
Another aspect of group projects that make them so alarming is how much the grade on them is usually worth. Projects tend to be more weighted than other assignments as they are usually few and far between. When this is a concern, it is important to not think about the final grade so much as just getting the project done to the best of your ability. Stressing about the grade will only slow you down.
Finally, students never feel like they have enough time for school projects. So many other things are time consuming, so projects are often thrown to the wayside. By organizing your time and prioritizing school work, projects become easier to complete with less of a time crunch. Making time always seems difficult until you realize how much time you are wasting on social media, TV shows, and other forms of procrastination.
School projects are difficult no doubt, but if you know how to research, be creative, think positively about the grade, and schedule your time, you will be sure to succeed.
